The time that I have been waiting for, planning for, and dreaming for is finally upon me. Tomorrow Antwain and I will board a plan heading back to Uganda, a place where the other part of my heart remains.
This past month has passed in a whirlwind of leaving my job at Operation Breakthrough, making arrangements for my home/possessions, and saying goodbye to friends/family. I have enjoyed spending time with people that I love deeply and creating memories that remind me how blessed I am! I have never been particularly fond of goodbyes as they seem so final, so I have tried to embrace the opportunities to tell those that I love how important they are to me.
For those of you that have wished us well...thank you for your love and support. Your cards, well-wishes, hugs, dinners, gifts, and prayers have meant the world to me! I am so blessed to have all of you in my life, and I look forward to sharing this new adventure with you.
As I start to look forward to what is waiting for Antwain and me in Uganda, I received a special photo from Joseph and Rosemary yesterday..our first glimpse that our new home. This modest apartment has never looked so good to me!! Starting from the left, you will see the SMK orphanage office (where I will be able to spend part of my day working). The middle section is our new home!! There are 2 bedrooms, bathroom, sitting room, and small kitchenette in there. To the right is the Maize Mill, where the orphanage occasionally produces corn flour for food. Coming soon will be photos of the inside...
I will be posting another blog entry as soon as I get settled and find an internet cafe to sit down and say hello to all of you again. Until then, we will be flying over the great Atlantic to those beautiful children at St. Mary Kevin. I am not sure who is more excited them or us?!
